The IEEE Student Branch at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RIT), established in 2006, is one of the most active and accomplished student branches within the IEEE Kerala Section. The branch comprises five dynamic technical society chapters: Robotics and Automation Society, the Signal Processing Society, the Industrial Application Society, the Computer Society, the Power and Energy Society, and a Women in Engineering affinity group.
IEEE SB RIT is dedicated to promoting technical excellence, leadership, and innovation through a variety of activities, such as workshops, hackathons, technical talks, and mentorship programs. The branch has garnered several prestigious awards, including the IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award in 2023 and 2024, as well as the Outstanding Student Branch Award 2024 from the IEEE Kochi Subsection. The society chapters have also achieved significant recognition. The IEEE RAS SBC RIT was honoured with the Darrel Chong Student Activity Award (Gold, 2023) for its flagship robotics initiative, REX, and secured over $12,000 in funding through the IEEE RAS Technical Education Program in 2024. The IEEE SPS SBC RIT received $3,000 through the 2024 Chapter Initiative Grant, while the IEEE PES SBC RIT was awarded the Outstanding Student Branch Chapter Award in 2023, among other accolades.
Through consistent efforts and impactful initiatives, IEEE SB RIT continues to serve as a distinguished hub for advancing technology and empowering future professionals.
